Blue All Over

Remember the 'Pink All Over'? Well, this is the same thing, but in blue.

I cut up 4.5" squares of various lite & dark blue fabrics and put a 2" white sashing in between them. Made 70 such blocks altogether.

Finished it off with a 4" flowery blue fabric.

Binding was a dark blue marbled fabric and backing fabric was white with blue lines. All went perfect together.

Lovely! and pretty big too.

Little Creatures

Still into whites you see. And trying to use up all my scraps. SO, I cut out white blocks of 7.5" and put 2" log cabin scraps all around it.

Went around to my friend A and said please please please draw me some lil' creatures - like the dragonfly, ladybug, butterfly, etc.

And so she did! Did a splendid job as well if you ask me. So I have 12 white blocks with lil' creatures on it and colourful scraps all around it.

Found a nice terracota-burnt-orange fabric that I thought would be a nice break-away from all that colourful scrap strips and put it as a 4.5" finishing border and its binding fabric. For the backing fabric, used up my left-over orange flowers on white.

Im SO IN LOVE with this finished work! Thanks a bunch A for your hand in it.

Imperfect Stars

I adore imperfections! Made some colourful 4-patch and white blocks. Asked if A could please draw something on the white blocks :-)

She drew some 'wonky' stars in similar colurs to the 4 patch. 2" white fabric was the first border, followed by another 2" marbled red and finished it off with 5" colourful striped fabric.

Went back to the same marbled red for binding and backing fabric was reds & pinks on white.

I just love the wonky stars!

Pink All Over

I adore this very simple pattern. Boxes of pink fabrics with white sashing in between. That's it! How much more simple can it be :-)

So I looked into my pink fabric collection, cut them up into 4.5" squares and put a 2" white sashing in between all those pinks.

I ended up with 70 such pink squares, arranged them 7 across and 10 down, framed it with white all over, then finally a 4" floral pink fabric to finish off.

A small polkadot pink as backing fabric and binding fabric was a bright shocking pink.

Absolutely adorable! I so like this one.

Roses in green & pink

I came across this algae-green fabric with lil' red & pink roses on it. Immediately took a liking to it and knew I wanted to work with greens & pinks with this one.

So I cut them up into 4.5" squares and thought I'd play with lime green & lite pink fabric as 'half-squares' at its corners to bring out the colour of the leaves & roses. Made 12 blocks altogether.

Used the lite pink dotted fabric as its first border and a similar marbled algae-green as its second border. Finished off with a lovely fabric in tiny pastel pink & green flowers.

Found a perfect backing fabric in the polkadot pink and contemplated in going for pink for its binding fabric . . . but nah, returned to the algea-green.

Interesting combination . . . don't know how I feel about this one.

Double Hour Glass

I'm into whites at the moment.

Have always wanted to make a quilt in this pattern - double hour glass. It looked really nice & simple. Have a few WIP - all having to do with whites. Somehow the colour just pops out when there is white involve.

So I looked at my stash, found some bright colours and cut them up into 2" strips. The white fabric is also 2" strips. Sew them together and cut according to the template.

For the longest time it just sat there as I couldn't find a fabric to finish it off with. Tried my luck with a 4.5" dark purple fabric as its last border. Backing fabric was a lite purple with balls and back to the dark purple for binding.

Thank goodness, the dark purple fabric paid off.
I LOVE how the colours just stands out!

How Big are the Tins?

I've had many querries as to how big are my tins ?? So I thought I better take some pictures & measurements of these tins. Its about 13" in Length . . . .

. . . . and about 6" in Height and 7.5" in Width.

What can it fit? A LOT of things really. I've put a tissue box in it to give you an idea of how much space there is left. If I fold my quilt in 3 and roll them up, it would fit nicely in the tins. There is also some space for a couple of baby clothes, mittens, etc.

Here they are . . . .

. . . . up for grabs people !

Noah's Ark - without the Animals

Found this lovely fabric in a small shop squeezed between all the big shops in Singapore. Its 'Noah's Ark' - without the animals. Thought it was cute.

Quilted the center piece in a criss-cross pattern. Braved myself with a bright 2.5" pink fabric as its 1st border to bring out the pink in the Ark and went for a matching 2.5" blue as its 2nd border.

Decided on a lovely bright 5" green fabric with leaves to finish off. Nice effect I thought.

Backing fabric was a matching blue polkadots and went for a plain blue for its binding.

. . . . and taa - daah! Looks really nice & simple.

Pillows for Eleanor

I had an order for a pillow. The first one was a standard newborn size of 12.5"L x 7.5"W. She wanted it in the green-hippo fabric. Done. Now E wanted a smaller one.

The measurement should be 10.5"L x 7.5"W (as above). Please make is smaller than the first one, and make it nice & soft. OK, no problem.

And here they are : from the back . . .

. . . and from the front. Hope u like it E!

Candy Coloured Cherries

Had this cherry fabric from many moons ago and didn't know what to do with it. So, I decided to make it simple and made tri-coloured 2.5" squares to go with it.

Eeni-mini-miny-mo . . . . which of the 3 colours should I use as its border? Ended up with the dark purple marbled fabric as its 2" border.

Backing fabric was a lite purplish which went well I thought and again with the marbled dark purple as bindig.

Nice effect I thought :-) Bright & colurful!

And here's my lil' Maya trying to hold it up, standing on a chair.
