Checker Board Quilt

This quilt was actually a request from Mrs.R. She was specific in what she wanted and how big it was going to be. She also wanted it to be in black & white and no other colour.

The black & white blocks were cut at 5" square and it was done 9 across and 11 down. The sides were 2" black strips with 2" white squares at all four corners. I used kona black & white.

Backing fabric was yet again in black & white, but this time in print fabrics. Binding was again the black & white kona in alternate strips.

"Love Grows in Cozy Little Houses"

This was all hand-painted!! By a dear friend M. Look at all that detail - so tiny-weeny-small!

It was just a square wooden box. That IKEA had many, many moons ago. Not available anymore. It is used to put your potted plant in.

Creative M decided to paint & decorate it, drill a hole at center of each side and put a braided natural fibre string as handle . . . .

. . . . all for me! As a present. I'm so loving it - TQ! TQ! TQ!

Blue Rabbits

Remember the 'Red Rabbits Quilt' ? Well, here is its twin :-)

Made it in a similar pattern to the Red Rabbit Quilt. 2 different shades of blue in an upside down L-shape. 5 blocks across and 7 down.

After them 35 blocks, went with a 2" very lite blue polkadot on off-white fabric and finished it off with a 5" blue striped yummy fabric.

Backing fabric was again a good match and my dark blue marbled was for binding.

Simple & Nice.

Fairies

Yet another fairies panel I bought from the net. A colourful one this time. Cut them up into 12 blocks . . . .

. . . . went with a 2" buttermilk yellow fabric as 1st sashing and then on to a 3" sky blue as all over 1st border. Finished it off with a 5.5" goldish yellow fabric with flower prints.

Nicely laid down.

Backing fabric complimented nicely I thought and binding was a strong yellow.

Just nice for a little princess.

Octagon box

Bless my friend A for yet another lovely piece of work! An octagon box. To keep whatever you fancy.

Painted a very deep purple with silver linings all over. Then for center piece, she drew these gorgeous roses, buds, leaves and all.

It was meant for a wedding reception - main table guest only! I managed to quietly sneak one out - LOL!!

Timeless!

I inherited this beauty!!! Im thrilled beyond words.

So I took it to the 'doctors' and after giving it a new rubber tape, new foot and I forgot one-more-thing, it was given a 'clean bill of health.

Cleaned it up, wiped it down, greased it all over and polished it good.

It works!! and what a beauty too. It's even been converted to an eletric foot thingy.

I LOVE IT!!

p/s. . . . btw, my faithful Janome has been down and at the doc's. Therefore, haven't been able to do any sewing for a while now. Soon I hope!

Love U Quilt

What a lovely panel! Bought it from Sue of MyBotang.

Decided on a 1.5" orange tone-on-tone fabric, next went for a 3" yellow buttermilk, and finally finished it off with a lovely 5" green fabric. It was LONG indeed!

I like the backing fabric - it was white base with tiny orange+yellow flowers and binding was a very bright marbled yellow.

Ta-daahh! Long & nice.

Just hangin' in my garden.

Liana's Order - Part 2

She gave me a coffee panel and told me to please "do it up" . . . .

. . . . so I added a 2" very dark mocha brown, and then a 3" lite polkadot cream and finished it off with a 5" cappuccino brown with small flowers.

For the backing fabric, I used the same as the last border fabric and binding was a dark marbled brown.

Coffee anyone?

I like the shades of brown here in the sunlight. Hope you're happy with it Liana!

Red String Quilt

Remember this? Its my very 1st String Quilt - did it in reds with solid white in the middle.

My red fabrics were made up of various red scraps and a solid white went all around. I finished it off with a 5" lovely dark marbled red fabric.

Backing fabric was white with tiny red x's and binding was yet a different red.

Them points may not meet and it ain't perfect - but i LOVE it!

What a beaut!

Shikin's Flower Fairies!

Its done at last! TQ for waiting Shikin :-)

This is the last of my Flower Fairies panel and I had 6 blocks left. Decided on a 2.5" marbled pink fabric as its first sashing to bring out the pinks in the Fairies.

Next was a 3" pale pink polkadot fabric as the 2nd border. Then, I wanted to bring out the greens in the fairies so I went for a slim strip of 2" darker shade of tone-on-tone algae green fabric. Lo and behold . . . . I had this lovely pink with green flowers fabric still uncut! So that was the 5" last border. Love the effect here already.

Binding fabric was perfect I thot - white with tiny pink flowers - and binding was the same marbled pink.

Really sweet looking here :-) Hope you like it Shikin!
