Emergency Vehicles - II

I made the first one many moons ago - anyone remembers? It was one of my earlier quilts (Transport I). It was a simple red & blue one. For this one, I decided to play with some colors; on a sea of marbled blue.

There are 9 such blocks with various vehicles. I framed them with 4 different bold colors to bring out its colors on blue background.

Yup, if you notice, even got my friend A to paint some 'No Entry' & 'U-turn' signage, as well as a traffic light. Finished off with 4" colorful stripe fabric from IKEA.

Blue polkadot fabric as its backing and went for the marbled blue as binding.

Gorgeous!

Quilt Tops - still unfinished

Found this lovely children's panel fabric at Cottage Patch last week and couldn't resist buying it. Simply put a terra-cotta orange as finishing border and lite peach polkadots at all 4 corners. That's it done!

Been working on this colorful pinwheels the last 2 days and finally finished it. Don't you just love the stripe fabric!

Still the basting and quilting to do folks!

Flamingoes

I bought this fabric in Singapore as I adored the colors of the flamingoes - aqua blue & mauve pink on white. Thought it made an interesting combination.

Decided to work only with these 2 colours (shades of it) and came up with a log cabin design (an 'L' design) around the flamingo block. The block is 6" and the strips are 2" each strip.

Did 12 blocks altogether and after the log cabin, went with a 3" off-white fabric with tiny pink dots as its 1st border. Couldn't decided how to finish it off . . . . with the blue or the pink ?

Backing fabric was lite blue polkadots . . .

Went either way with the finishing - the L side that had more pink, I finished off with blue fabric and the L side that had more blue, went with pink ! Did the same with the binding :-)

I like the effect !

Colours of My Heart

It was the colourful heart fabric from IKEA. I simply wanted to bring out the colours . . .

. . . so I cut them up into 5.5" squares and combined them with 5 different solid colours of the heart that I thought would go well together. There are 10 blocks across and 13 down. Its a good size.

Here again, I didn't have a finishing border but went straight to binding at the end.

Used a bright red fabric for binding and found a lovely mustard-yellow polkadots for backing fabric. I really like the backing fabric.

It looks yummy-licious just lying on the grass in my garden - love it!

I Spy Quilt

I've been collecting various fabrics with all sorts of animals in it as I've always wanted to do this quilt. Its called the "I Spy" quilt - as in I spy with my eye . . .

I've got about 8 different fabrics of interesting prints (children fabrics) and cut them up into 4.5" squares. Put a 2" solid black fabric in between - I've never worked with black mind you.

I made them in 7 rows across and 9 down yielding 63 blocks of 4" colourful "I Spy" fabrics.

For the first time I have decided not to have any finishing border and went straight to binding. Chose a bright red for binding and a polkadot very dark blue (almost black really) as the backing fabric.

Love the colours!

Blue All Over

Remember the 'Pink All Over'? Well, this is the same thing, but in blue.

I cut up 4.5" squares of various lite & dark blue fabrics and put a 2" white sashing in between them. Made 70 such blocks altogether.

Finished it off with a 4" flowery blue fabric.

Binding was a dark blue marbled fabric and backing fabric was white with blue lines. All went perfect together.

Lovely! and pretty big too.

Little Creatures

Still into whites you see. And trying to use up all my scraps. SO, I cut out white blocks of 7.5" and put 2" log cabin scraps all around it.

Went around to my friend A and said please please please draw me some lil' creatures - like the dragonfly, ladybug, butterfly, etc.

And so she did! Did a splendid job as well if you ask me. So I have 12 white blocks with lil' creatures on it and colourful scraps all around it.

Found a nice terracota-burnt-orange fabric that I thought would be a nice break-away from all that colourful scrap strips and put it as a 4.5" finishing border and its binding fabric. For the backing fabric, used up my left-over orange flowers on white.

Im SO IN LOVE with this finished work! Thanks a bunch A for your hand in it.

Imperfect Stars

I adore imperfections! Made some colourful 4-patch and white blocks. Asked if A could please draw something on the white blocks :-)

She drew some 'wonky' stars in similar colurs to the 4 patch. 2" white fabric was the first border, followed by another 2" marbled red and finished it off with 5" colourful striped fabric.

Went back to the same marbled red for binding and backing fabric was reds & pinks on white.

I just love the wonky stars!
