Strawberry Shortcake II

This is the 2nd Strawberry Shortcake fabric I bought (from Cottage Patch) and this time decided to cut them up into squares & strips.

Knew I wanted 2 different colored fabric to surround the blocks - lavender/lilac & banana leaf green. But couldn't find lavender/lilac, so went with a brighter magenta like fabric. Cut the fabric into 7" squares and put 2.5" X 7" strips of each color and alternate squares around it. Made 12 squares.

Decide to end it with 1.5" of soft lime green border and finished off with a 5" fun pink dotted fabric.

Backing fabric was a pastel soft pink and instead of pink or green, went with a reddish-maroon for binding.

Fun-looking!

Long Overdue for Yusuf Dani!

I'm supposed to get this done in March 2010 in time for my niece's son - Dani's 2nd birthday. Jeez, i'm bad! He wanted the IKEA fabric with animals in fancy cars.

Cut the pictures up and put random fabrics as sashings . . . ,

. . . . framed it up with a 2" moss green fabric and finished off with 5" of my favorite green & purple stripes fabric. It worked well together.

Backing fabric was a lite green with swirls and binding was the same moss green.

Its GREEN today

These are my scraps people! In my baking pans - LOL! Must get some storage containers. I've worked on my pinks (Coin Quilt), and my reds (String Quilt) . . .

. . . . so I decided to go for my greens this time around . . . .

. . . . and came up with this! So in love with it at the moment.

Hot Air Balloon

So A emailed me and said she really liked the Hot Air Balloon fabric I bought from Bandung. Could I please whip something up for her. Perhaps I could put white sashings in between she said . . . . and so I did.

Cut the fabric up into 5" squares and put 2" solid white in between. Made 5 across and 7 down with white all around. Next, was a lovely red fabric with multicolored bubbles. Perfect for the 'balloon' effect I thought.

Backing fabric was reddish-maroon with white and decided to be bright and went ahead with a loud yellow fabric for its binding.

Lovely! I'm so into all that red & balloons :-)

Dr.Shah's Order

YES! It's another Baby Animals panel. She missed out on the first one and asked if I could please do another exactly like the first . . . .

Lucky for her I had another panel (usually buy them in twos!) and went back to the shop to get the lovely green-striped fabric. Thankfully, the fabric was still available coz' usually these fabrics go like hot cakes.

And here we have it - exactly like the first one! For my friend Dr.Shah.

Pink Coin Quilt

Another pattern I've been wanting to do - it's called the 'Stacked Coin Quilt' or simply the 'Coin Quilt'. Had a lot of 2.5" pink strips that was waiting to be used.

A good way to use up all my pink scraps really! Just lined them up and sew. Put a 2.5" solid white in between.

Framed it all around with a 2" shocking pink solid and finished off with a 5" flowery pink.

Backing fabric was lite pink with hearts and went back to shocking pink fabric for binding.

Had fun making this. Perhaps will make a few more in blues & greens.

My first attempt at String Quilts!

I've been sorting out my scraps lately according to color (and boy, do I have tons of 'em!). And saw that I had lots of multicolored 2"-2.5" strips. So, I've been wanting to do a String Quilt for the longest time. Thought it was difficult so I hesitated. But I've now gained in confidence on my sewing skills and thot why not . . . .

. . . . and so I attempted it. Some squares are not perfect but it was so beautiful that I carried on.

So there we have it - my very 1st String Quilt! Am so proud of myself (grin!). Its gonna' sit for a bit till I'm done admiring it (grin again!) Will keep y'all posted of the end results.

Flower Fairies in Pink

Saw this lovely Flower Fairies panel on Etsy and just had to have it. It was a panel of 12 blocks measuring 5.5" X 8". It came in pink & in purple. Greedy me bought 'em both :-)

To begin with, I decided to work with only 6 panels. Framed it first with a perfect shade of 2" dark pink marbled fabric that brought out the fairies color. Then went with a 2.5" very light pastel pink.

Somehow had this olive green fabric that went with all the green in the fairy panel - YEAYY! Cut 1.5" and framed it all over the 6 pink blocks. Didn't quite know which direction to go next . . . . so played it safe and went back to the pastel pink. And finished it off with a 4.5" flowery pink & green fabric.

Pink polkadot fabric for the backing & instead of the olive green for binding, went with the dark pink.

Nice & Long it turned out.

Love, Hugs & Kisses

Here it is all done - my version of 'Love, Hugs & Kisses'. Made 4 across and 6 down with 3 different colors on a solid white background.

Framed it with a 2.5" solid white and decided on a multicolored border, playing only with the 3 colors used - red, blue & green.

Backing fabric was off-white with small flowers and binding was the same red fabric as the hearts.

And we have a cheerful looking quilt! I love it!

Dinosaurs in Colors!

A lovely dinosaur panel! Found it at Kelvin's of Bernina. It was bright & colorful. Had to have it.

It was small & sweet. So had to make it bigger. Framed it with a 2" black & white dragonfly fabrics. Then decided to use 3 different colored polkadot fabrics - aqua blue, red & green. Cut them up in 4.5" squares and made them into 2 rows. Finished it off with a 5" yellow fabric.

Backing fabric is a very dark (almost black) blue with white flowers and went back to the black & white dragonfly for its binding.

B.R.I.G.H.T & colorful!!

Children At the Beach

It was a lovely panel of children and their innocence, at the beach. I most certainly couldn't resist it!

The panel I bought came with 10 such lovely pictures. I chose only 6 to work with. Each block measured about 7" X 10". Decided to frame the blocks with a 1.5" sea blue marbled fabric, and knew I wanted a buttermilk color next.

Went back to the same blue and because I wanted some red somewhere . . . found this cream-reddish flower and went with it. Wasn't too sure about it, crossed my fingers tho'.

Now, the backing fabric I like - white & cream lines. Perfect I thought. Back to the blue for binding.

Hmmmm, it's pretty long. What do u think? Lovely! or just OK? Adore the pictures tho :-)

Notebooks!

It was a Sunday and me & my girls decided to have some fun with fabrics. So we chose those above and . . . .

. . . . made them into these - notebooks!

Its really that simple - no stitching required! Just some fabrics, PVA glue & double-sided tape. And fabrics of course.

Done in 10 minutes. My 11 year old did one for herself (hers is the one with puppies & kittens).

A great gift idea! Could put the fabrics & kit together, if anyone is interested?
