Sweet Purple Pinwheels

This was one of the fabrics that came back from Perth. It was so sweet with small pictures of rattles, pram, rocking horse, etc. Thot a pinwheel pattern with lite purple would be nice. 

For its sashing, decided on a lite yellow to bring out its small pictures.

Went back to the lite purple for its 2nd border . . .

. . . and finished it off with yet another shade of purple with small white flowers. Has a nice effect, don't you think?

Bunny Rabbit everywhere

Goodness, it's upside down! Anyways, had this gorgeous apple green fabric with rabbits everywhere. Didn't really know what to do with it. Came up with 'a box in a box' pattern.

Decided that an assortment of reds would nicely bring out the red bunny in the sea of green.

Nicely folded up . . . I quite like the reds and greens.

Quite pleased with the criss-cross red backing fabric and lime green binding :-)

I like it! Not bad I guess.

Baby Bear

I had a whole meter of this fabric years ago. Used it up little by little. This is all i have left. Cut up a small window just to show the cute baby bear with blanket . . .

. . . a bit of green here and a bit of blue there . . .

. . . a nice striped blue for its backing, a dotted blue-green to finish it off and a strong green for its binding.

The end result . . . hmmm, . . . ok-lah.

Trucks & Lorries

I bet no one recognizes this piece of fabric . . . it was from the goodies my friend brought back from Perth (refer 'fabrics galore' posting). It was a large piece of fabric with pictures of these cement trucks &  lorries, etc. Decided to cut them up into small pieces of just the trucks . . . 

. . . and do my favourite log cabin around with blues & greens and a nice yellow sashing.

Finished it off with a lovely blue with yellow dots, a suitable yellow fabric for its backing and plain yellow for the binding . . .

. . . and taa-dah! I'm so happy with how it turned out ;-) I must be getting better at this. LOL.

Fairies in Pink

Remember the fabrics my friend bought for me from Oz? (refer 'fabric galore' posting).

Well it had this pink fairies on white and I decided to make the into pinwheels alternating with light polkadot pink fabric.

 
Made 9 such pinwheel blocks and put a plain sweet-not-too-strong-pink border all around it. Wanted this quilt to be quiet and toned down. 

. . . found a pink with white flowers fabric for its backing . . .

. . . and for its border, thought a nice pink flower on white would look just right around it. Finished it off with light pink binding. Nice !

At The Pet Store

The fabric was like this and therefore too nice to cut up. Didn't know how to cut it right really ;-) So I decided to just cut a big piece and make up for it with some nice borders.

Gambled on a white 2.5" first border . . . . Didn't know what to do next so it sat on the table for a bit. Then went with a triangle red & green 3" second border. Somehow had a Christmassy-effect :-)

. . . and finished it off with a stripey 5" border and a green binding. For its backing, found a nice white with small red flowers.

So this is how it turned out in the end. Hmm . . , don't know how I feel about this one ;-)

Scraps of Blues

Instead of neat lines of blues, decided to go haywire with this one and make it uneven. So I put together about 7-8 different blue fabrics of uneven length and a strong blue sashing in between.

It looked kinda' dark so I brighten it up with a white border and finished it off with a dark blue bubble fabric. Looks ok now.

Turned out I made 30 blocks of blue strips! All folded up. 

Had an "ocean of blue" effect I thot ;-) . . . and its kinda long too.
